The La Junta Tiger football team, just like the rest of the state of Colorado began practice on Monday. It is now the Ty Buderus era at Tiger Stadium as Ty will take over the team from his brother Clint. Clint took the head coaching job at Pueblo West earlier in the summer. Ty was named head coach four days later. Most of the team will stay the same for the 2018 campaign. The Tigers graduated 12 seniors last year. In that number was Running Back Wyatt Buhr, Wide Receiver Matthew Espinoza and Offensive Tackle Vicente Ramirez. A lot of skill and heart returns to the Tiger lineup as they return 2-time Player of the Year Quarterback Jon Nuschy. Also returning for the Tigers are: Linebacker Mitchell Peabody, Center Ty Addington and Tackle/Nose Guard Jacob Tafoya. La Junta is Junior heavy this year as this year’s squad has 22 Juniors. A total of 42 kids make up the Tiger roster this season. 8 of those 42 are Seniors. 23 of the 42 kids were on the 2016 State Championship team. La Junta opens up the season August 24th at Raton.
